Shri Vallabhacharya

Shri Vallabhacharya, the founder of Pushtimarga, was born in 1479 A.D. in Champaranya. Born into a learned Brahmin family, his parents were Laxman Bhatt and Yallamagaru. He believed he was divinely sent by Lord Shri Krishna to reveal the path of devotion followed by the Gopis of Gokul.

Siddhant - The Teaching

Shri Vitthalnathji

Shri Vallabhacharya was divinely instructed by Lord Vitthal to marry, so the Lord could manifest as his son. His second son, Shri Vitthalnathji (later known as Gusainji), was born in 1516 near Varanasi. Deeply devoted to Shri Krishna since childhood, he was guided by his father and later by the disciple Damodardas Harsani.

The Vallabhacharya Lineage

Shri Gusainji, in his Sarvottam Stotra, praises Shri Vallabhacharya for establishing a divine lineage to spread devotion. There are two types of guru lineages—nada (disciple succession) and bindu (family lineage). Pushtimarg follows the bindu tradition, where leadership continues through his descendants, beginning with Shri Gusainji and his seven sons.

The Astha Chap Krishna Poets

Seva

Shri Krishna, enchanting on the banks of the Yamuna with His flute, is the center of devotion in Pushtimarg—the object, means, and reward of seva. Shri Vallabhacharya taught that pleasing Krishna through dedicated seva leads to divine union. He received the Brahma Sambandh mantra from Krishna and initiated devotees, connecting their souls to the Divine.

Utsavas

Shri Krishna is experienced through all senses, bringing joy and fulfillment to devotees, as described in the Venu Gita. The Other Svarupas

Shri Navanit Priyaji is the child form of Shri Krishna, lovingly holding butter. Discovered in the Yamuna and offered to Shri Vallabhacharya, this divine form was worshipped by Shri Gusainji and passed through his lineage. He represents Krishna’s playful infant form with mother Yashoda, embodying pure love and innocence.
